By booking an inspection with RedBook Inspect Pty Ltd ABN: 67 125 096 077 (“RedBook Inspect”, “we” or “us”), you accept the following terms and conditions:
All inspections are VISUAL and/or non-mechanical, and do not involve the removal of any parts or components.
Additional inspection-specific terms apply, please refer to Attachment 1 (Service-specific Terms) and refer to the terms applicable to the type of inspection you have purchased.
Each inspection package is subject to exclusions. Please read Attachment 2 (Excluded Items List) carefully to understand which items are not included in each inspection package.
(Payment of Fees) In consideration of us providing you with inspection services, you agree to pay the applicable fees as set out where the service is made available for purchase by you (“Fees”).
(Rescheduling) Where the inspection is provided by RedBook Inspect, you may reschedule an inspection booking on two occasions only. If you are unable to proceed with the inspection booking after rescheduling for the second time, you must cancel the inspection booking and make a new booking if required.
(Cancellation by you) If you cancel an inspection that is to be provided by RedBook Inspect with at least 24 hours’ notice, you will be entitled to a full refund. If you cancel the inspection with fewer than 24 hours’ notice, you will be entitled to a refund, less a cancellation fee equal to 40% of the Fees paid by you for the relevant inspection service. If you cancel the inspection with fewer than 2 hours’ notice, you will be entitled to a refund, less a cancellation fee equal to 60% of the Fees paid by you for the relevant inspection service.
(Cancellation by us) We reserve the right not to undertake an inspection for any type of vehicle or other item, in which case you will be entitled to a full refund of the Fees paid by you to us.
(Booking process) Following your payment of the Fees, we or our authorised third party will contact the person nominated in your booking request to arrange a time to conduct the inspection and confirm the location of the item to be inspected. We and our authorised third parties will only contact Australian telephone numbers and are unable to call international numbers.
(Requirements for inspection) Prior to our attendance for an inspection, we require the inspected item to:
be on a hard and level surface;
be in a safe location;
be fully set up, if applicable (e.g. if a trailer or caravan is to be inspected, have all structures, tents, annexures and fixtures set up); and
have reasonable walking space around its perimeter.
(If requirements are not met) Where the requirements for inspection described in clause 3(b) are not met:
you will be entitled to a full refund if you provide us with at least 24 hours’ notice that you will be unable to meet the requirements for inspection; or
otherwise, we may proceed with the inspection, but reasonably reduce the scope of the inspection to avoid health or safety concerns. For example, if the item is not a on a level surface, the item may not be raised on a vehicle jack (if applicable to the inspection).
(Road test requirements) Where a road test is included as part of the inspection scope, you must ensure that the vehicle has sufficient petrol or battery charge (as applicable) to undertake the road test. We will not undertake a road test on any vehicle which appears, in our reasonable opinion, not to be in a roadworthy condition, or if the vehicle is not registered in the relevant state. Vehicles are only road tested to the speed limit of the local area.
(Matters outside our reasonable control): To the extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any delay in performing, or any failure to carry out an inspection to the extent that such delay or failure results from events or circumstances outside our reasonable control (e.g. extreme weather preventing an inspection). In such circumstances, we will seek to reschedule to the inspection for a mutually convenient future time.
(Provision of report) Some of our inspection services involve providing an inspection report or other documentation to you, which may include an accompanying audio or video file, or other material, where applicable (“Report”).
(Warranties) Subject to all applicable laws, and subject to clause 6(a), we do not provide any warranty or guarantees regarding the nature, reliability, accuracy or completeness of any information contained in the Report or the fitness of the information contained in the Report for any purpose intended.
(Not a recommendation to purchase) You understand that the Report is not, and should not be considered to be, a recommendation to purchase or not to purchase the item being inspected (eg vehicle). The decision to purchase the item is your own having regard to such matters as you consider relevant having regard to your own circumstances and your own investigations and enquiries.
(Inspection-specific terms) You accept the additional terms relevant to your inspection type detailed in Attachment 1 – Service Specific Terms, including relating to limitations of the Report.
(Excluded items) You accept that, in addition to the other inspection limitations described in these terms, our inspector will not inspect the items listed in Attachment 2 – Excluded Items List. Please read this list carefully as the exclusions in respect of each inspection package vary.
(Ensure item’s availability) Where the inspection is provided by RedBook Inspect, the inspection will be undertaken at the location notified by you (or the relevant vehicle seller) to us. It is your responsibility to arrange for the item being inspected to be at the inspection location at the time of the booking or to procure that the vehicle seller makes available the item at the inspection location at the time of the booking.
(Provision of information) You must provide our inspector with any material information that you have or that you are aware of in relation to the vehicle which is the subject of the inspection. For example, the vehicle’s service history, if the vehicle is unregistered (and if not, the reason for it being unregistered), any major mechanical repairs undertaken on the vehicle or if the vehicle has suffered structural damage due to its involvement in a collision. We rely on the complete disclosure of this information from you and the accuracy of any such information and will not be responsible if the Report is inaccurate due to any information provided by you being inaccurate.
(Non-excludable rights and remedies) These Inspection Service Terms do not exclude, restrict or modify any right or remedy conferred on you by an applicable statute (eg the Australian Consumer Law) that cannot be excluded, restricted or modified.
(Our liability to you) To the extent permitted by law:
all implied guarantees and warranties relating to our inspection services are excluded;
our total liability to you arising under or relating to these Inspection Service Terms shall not exceed the greater of: (i) $1000; and (ii) 5 times the total Fees paid by you to us for the service giving rise to the liability; and

We will not be responsible for the terms of any transaction, or for resolving any related dispute, between you and any third party in relation to any item inspected by us or a third party.

(Returns) All returns are processed in accordance with our Returns Policy.
Privacy: We collect, hold and disclose your personal information (such as your name, address, email address and vehicle details) in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Amendments: These terms and conditions may be amended by us from time to time by updating this website. Version: (4 March, 2026)
In addition to the general Inspection Service Terms above, the following terms relevant to the type of inspection you have purchased also apply to our provision of inspection services to you:
We will not be responsible for any latent defects that are discovered which were not visually apparent during the inspection.
Whilst our inspectors use accepted methods for fault detection, these methods may not necessarily identify all faults with a vehicle.
As the scope of each inspection is limited (as described in these Inspection Service Terms), the faults listed in the Report (if any) are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all faults with the vehicle, and should not be relied upon as such.
The Report is only current as at the time it is issued and is based on an assessment of the vehicle at the time of inspection. It is your responsibility (as a buyer) to conduct an inspection of the vehicle at the time of sale, as we can only advise on the condition of the vehicle at the time of our inspection.
You should consider the age and condition of the vehicle at the time of inspection and any Report should be reviewed in this context.
We do not check for any manufacturer recall notices and you should check that the vehicle is not subject to a recall notice.
We do not assess the vehicle for compliance against the manufacturer’s factory specifications (e.g. the Report does not consider whether vehicle trim aligns with a manufacturer’s factory specifications, or if a non-standard vehicle badge is installed on a gear knob).
The Report is not a roadworthy certificate and cannot be used as a roadworthy certificate – you should contact the road transport authority in your state or territory for road worthy certificate requirements.
Notwithstanding the result of any inspection, we do not guarantee that the vehicle inspected would pass a road authority inspection.
You are solely responsible for undertaking searches of public records in relation to the vehicle, for example to determine if the vehicle is subject to a security interest, the vehicle has been written off or the VIN or engine number of the vehicle is inauthentic or any other matter.
We will also not be responsible for verifying the accuracy of the vehicle mileage as indicated by the vehicle’s odometer.
Subject to all applicable laws, we do not provide any warranty regarding the nature, reliability, accuracy or completeness of any information contained in the Report or the fitness of the information contained in the Report for any purpose intended.

This clause applies if the services provided to you include a battery ‘state of health’ test for an electric vehicle (“EV Battery Test”).
You acknowledge that the EV Battery Test is being conducted and provided by third parties, being AVILOO GmbH ( a company based in Austria) ("Aviloo") and Test EV Pty Ltd (“Test EV”). Aviloo owns and operates the analysis and test software and equipment to conduct the EV Battery Test, and Test EV holds the distribution rights for Aviloo’s technology and equipment in Australia. The EV Battery Test conducted will be an “Aviloo Flash Test”, and Aviloo’s testing box is required to be connected to the vehicle to run the test. During this connection, test data is sent to the Aviloo server, and an Aviloo battery report providing details regarding the condition of the battery is issued. The Aviloo battery report determines an Aviloo score. You acknowledge that the results of the EV Battery Test are limited to the health of the vehicle’s battery at the time the test is performed and is designed to be for general information purposes only. The EV Battery Test looks at the vehicle’s battery in isolation to any other component of the vehicle and is not intended to be the sole diagnostic tool in determining the condition or status of any components of the vehicle.
Given that the service is being provided by third parties, you agree and acknowledge that, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
RedBook Inspect is not responsible or liable for any actions or omissions of, or services or materials provided to you by, Test EV or Aviloo;
RedBook Inspect does not provide any form of warranty or guarantee regarding the accuracy, suitability, completeness, reliability or utility of an EV Battery Test or Aviloo battery report;
RedBook Inspect may offer to facilitate the resolution of a dispute between you and Aviloo or Test EV, however the resolution of any dispute is ultimately the responsibility of you and Aviloo and Test EV; and
You are responsible for interpreting and assessing the Aviloo battery report provided to you.
You acknowledge that there may be certain circumstances where an EV Battery Test may not be able to be performed on a specific vehicle (for example, because the vehicle may not be compatible with Aviloo’s technology). Please see Aviloo’s website or contact RedBook Inspect for further details on which vehicles are compatible and not compatible with an Aviloo Flash Test. If you purchase the “Electric Pre-Purchase Inspection” service and your vehicle is not compatible, RedBook Inspect will notify you and provide you with a partial refund of the total fee paid for the service, which will be determined by RedBook Inspect (acting reasonably) having regard to the other services that are being provided to you for that total fee.
You acknowledge and agree to Test EV’s Terms and Conditions (as updated from time to time, provided that any amended terms and conditions will only apply to new services booked from the date the amendment is made, and not affect any accrued rights or obligations under the prior terms and conditions relating to historical services).
Before you purchase an EV Battery Test, you acknowledge that you and/or the relevant vehicle owner should review the terms of the relevant manufacturer warranty for the vehicle to confirm that the conduct of an EV Battery Test will not invalidate or cause any other issues in respect of the manufacturer warranty. RedBook Inspect, Test EV and Aviloo have not reviewed and cannot confirm the terms of the vehicle’s manufacturer warranty, and therefore cannot and do not provide any undertaking that an EV Battery Test will not invalidate or otherwise affect the manufacturer warranty.
You must not create any kind of database of results of EV Battery Tests or use an Aviloo battery report or test data for any purpose other than receiving your inspection services or as otherwise expressly permitted by these Service Terms. In addition, you must not share the Aviloo battery report with any third parties unless you are required to do so by law, a court order or a regulator.
Once the Aviloo battery report is provided to you, none of RedBook Inspect, Test EV or Aviloo are required to make any updates to the Aviloo battery report (except as required under an applicable law or court order).
Without limiting clause 5(a) of the Inspection Service Terms above, if you are not the owner of the vehicle that is the subject of the test, you knowledge that it is your responsibility to ensure that the owner is aware of the nature of the test being conducted, these Service Terms and the matters set out in these Service Terms.
