By booking a remote video assessment with RedBook Inspect Pty Ltd ABN: 67 125 096 077 ("RedBook Inspect", "we", "our" or "us"), you accept the following terms and conditions:
Our remote video assessments are governed by:
the Inspection Service Terms, save that references to inspections in those Terms shall be deemed to be references to remote video assessments; and
these Remote Video Assessment Terms of Service (as set out in the document).
To the extent of inconsistency between the Inspection Service Terms and these Remote Video Assessment Terms of Service, these Remote Video Assessment Terms of Service prevail.
The remote video assessment is VISUAL and non-mechanical, and does not involve the removal of any parts or components.
Additional inspection-specific terms apply, please refer to Attachment 1 (Types of Remote Video Assessment) and refer to the terms applicable to the type of remote video inspection you have purchased.
The inspection will not include assessment of items listed in Attachment 2 (Excluded Items List).
Remote video assessments are conducted via live video chat.
The report provided by us relating to the video assessment ("Report") will be prepared based on information gathered from the owner, the results of a remote video assessment conducted via live video chat, and any information that may have been provided by you to us.
Following completion of payment for a remote video assessment ("Fees"), our assessor will contact the owner of the vehicle to arrange a time to conduct the remote video assessment.
For the purpose of these terms:
the "vehicle" is the car, bike, boat, caravan or other vehicle that is the subject of the remote video assessment;
"you", "purchaser" or "buyer" is used to describe the person requesting and purchasing the RedBook Inspect service; and
"owner" is used to describe the person in control of the vehicle and participating in the remote video assessment.
The remote video assessment will be undertaken via video chat between our assessor and the owner of the vehicle. It is your responsibility to notify us of the owner's contact details, and arrange for the owner to co-operate with our assessor regarding the remote video assessment, including by arranging a suitable time, within business hours, for the remote video assessment to be conducted and ensuring that the vehicle is fully set up prior to the beginning of the remote video assessment.
The Report is provided by RedBook Inspect for the person named on the report and you must not provide the Report to any third party, except with RedBook Inspect's prior written consent. RedBook Inspect may allow you to publish the Report on a website owned or operated by carsales.com.au Pty Ltd and its Related Bodies Corporate (as that term is defined in the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth)) in association with an item listing.
The purchaser is responsible for undertaking all searches of public records in relation to the vehicle, including without limitation to determine if the vehicle is subject to a security interest, the vehicle has been written off or the VIN or engine number of the vehicle is inauthentic or any other matter. RedBook Inspect will also not be responsible for verifying the accuracy of the vehicle mileage as indicated by the vehicle's odometer.
You must provide the RedBook Inspect assessor with any material information that you have or that you are aware of in relation to the vehicle which is the subject of the remote video assessment. For example, this may include the vehicle's service history, whether or not the vehicle is unregistered (and if so, the reason for it being unregistered), any major mechanical repairs undertaken on the vehicle or if the vehicle has suffered structural damage due to its involvement in a collision. RedBook Inspect relies on the complete disclosure of this information from you and the accuracy and completeness of any such information and, to the extent permitted by law, will not be responsible if the Report is inaccurate due to any information provided by you being inaccurate.
You understand that the Report is not, and should not be considered any type of recommendation, endorsement or advice in respect of the vehicle (including without limitation whether or not the vehicle is suitable to be purchased, hired, leased and/or used for any other purpose). Any relevant decision with respect to the vehicle is solely your own having regard to such matters as you consider relevant having regard to your own circumstances and your own investigations and enquiries.
Liability arising under or in relation to these Remote Video Assessment Terms of Service is governed by the liability provisions described in the Inspection Service Terms.
Without limiting clause 4(a), you agree that, to the extent permitted by law and subject to clause 4(c),:
all implied terms, guarantees and warranties relating to our remote video assessments are excluded;
our total liability to you arising under these Terms or relating to the remote video assessment shall not exceed the greater of: (i) $1000; and (ii) 5 times the total Fees paid by you to us for the service giving rise to the liability; and
we will not be liable to you for loss of use, production, profit, revenue, business, data, contractor anticipated savings, delay, financing costs, operating costs, or any indirect or consequential loss or damage.
(Non-excludable rights and remedies) These Terms do not exclude, restrict or modify any right or remedy conferred on you by an applicable statute (eg the Australian Consumer Law) that cannot be excluded, restricted or modified.
Infrastructure: Each of RedBook Inspect and the owner are responsible for their own costs regarding infrastructure, internet or mobile data in connection with the live video chat, and RedBook Inspect makes no representation or warranty regarding the accessibility or availability of the network infrastructure required to conduct a remote video assessment.
Amendment: These Remote Video Assessment Terms of Service may be amended by us from time to time by updating this website. However, any amended terms and conditions will only apply to new remote video assessments booked after the amendment is made, and not affect bookings already made (which will continue to be governed by the terms in place at the time of booking.
Governing Law: This agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia and each party irrevocably submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that state.

This clause 1 only applies with respect to non-finance remote video assessments.
The remote video assessment of any vehicle undertaken by RedBook Inspect is conducted via live video chat, and is VISUAL and non-mechanical only and RedBook Inspect will not be responsible for verifying the physical location of any vehicle. RedBook Inspect will not be responsible for any defects that are latent or which were not visually apparent during the assessment. The assessment will cover the vehicle’s exterior, interior, engine compartment, tyres and wheels. The assessment will specifically not cover the items set out in Attachment 2 below, unless the owner makes specific disclosures in relation to these items or issues are visible upon remote video assessment. No removal of parts or components or driving of the vehicle is undertaken during the assessment process.
The Report provided by RedBook Inspect will be prepared based on information gathered from the owner, the results of a remote video assessment conducted via live video chat, and any information that may have been provided by you to RedBook Inspect.
Whilst RedBook Inspect will use its best efforts to provide correct information in the Report, to the full extent permitted by law, it does not guarantee or make any representations or warranties regarding the nature, reliability, accuracy, completeness or suitability of the Report. To the full extent permitted by law, RedBook Inspect will not be liable for any loss or damage relating to your use of, or reliance on, the Report. Where possible, you should revert to the visual inspection conducted by you or on your behalf (for example, at the point of sale if it is a pre-purchase assessment). Information provided by the owner is extracted in the Report, however RedBook Inspect is not required to disclose to you any other source data used to produce a Report (e.g. the video itself) unless compelled to do so under applicable law.
You acknowledge that while RedBook Inspect’s assessor will ask the owner questions intended to identify commonly occurring faults in a vehicle, these methods are reliant on the accuracy and completeness of information provided by the owner, and will not necessarily identify all faults with a vehicle. To the extent permitted by law, RedBook Inspect accepts no liability relating to inaccurate or incomplete information provided by an owner. You should consider the age and condition of the vehicle at the time of the remote video assessment and any Report should be reviewed in this context.
The Report provided by RedBook Inspect to you is only current as at the time it is issued. It is your responsibility to conduct a visual inspection of the vehicle (as appropriate, such as at the point of sale) as RedBook Inspect can only advise on the condition of the vehicle as ascertainable through the remote video assessment at the time of that remote video assessment.
The Report is not a roadworthy certificate and cannot be used as a roadworthy certificate – you should contact the road transport authority in your state or territory for roadworthy certificate requirements.
RedBook Inspect does not check for any manufacturer recall notices and you should check that the vehicle is not subject to a recall notice.
Notwithstanding the result of any remote video assessment, RedBook Inspect does not guarantee that the vehicle inspected would pass a road authority inspection.
To the extent a CarFacts Report forms part of the Report, you acknowledge that these terms will not apply to the use of the CarFacts Report, which shall instead be subject to the terms available at: https://www.carfacts.com.au/Home/TermsAndConditions.
This clause 2 applies with respect to finance remote video verifications (however labelled).
Where RedBook Inspect conducts a finance remote video verification, it will only verify the existence of a vehicle or item and any other verification items set out in the report.
The verification is based on the VIN or other serial number provided by the person booking the verification and RedBook Inspect relies on the accuracy and completeness of these details and will not be responsible or liable to any person in the event this information is inaccurate. It is the responsibility of the buyer or any other person requesting the assessment to check with the PPSR for any financial interest owing on the vehicle or item and for any write off or stolen vehicle or item history before purchasing or financing the vehicle or item. The purchaser or any other person requesting the verification must take responsibility for the authenticity of the vehicle or item as described by the person booking the assessment. VIN and serial numbers are recorded by our assessors however authenticity cannot be guaranteed.
This type of verification does not involve any investigation of the condition of the vehicle or item at all and RedBook Inspect makes no representation or warranty regarding the condition of the vehicle or item and buyers or financiers should conduct a full mechanical inspection and other investigations in relation to the vehicle or item before entering into any agreement to purchase or finance a vehicle or item.
The results of the verification are valid only at the time of the assessment and it is the responsibility of the buyer or financier to conduct an inspection of the vehicle or item at the time of completing the purchase or financing of any item.
(Owner identity verification service): RedBook Inspect may provide you with an option to purchase a separate owner identity verification service as an add-on to the finance remote video vehicle verification service.
The Olasio Terms of Service apply in connection with your use of this owner identity verification service. To the extent of inconsistency between the Olasio Terms of Service and these Remote Video Assessment Terms of Service, these Remote Video Assessment Terms of Service prevail.
Without limiting sub-clause (1) above, you acknowledge that (i) the owner identity verification service is a separate assessment that occurs outside of the remote video vehicle verification service conducted by RedBook Inspect, and (ii) the RedBook Inspect assessor will ask for the name of the individual appearing on the live video chat during the remote video vehicle verification service but will not otherwise ask to view the owner’s identity documents during the inspection.
The owner identity verification assessment will be delivered to you as a separate report and will be password protected.
These items are excluded from your remote video assessment except where the seller makes specific disclosures or an issue is apparent during remote video assessment:
Brake function and lining material, brake drums, limited to what is immediately visible
Evidence of brake fluid contamination/hydraulic fluid
Anti-lock braking system (ABS) mechanics
Meters indicating oil and fuel consumption or the degree of oil and fuel consumption
Oil leaks or reason for oil leaks
Oil pump strainer to assess sludge build up
Wheel cylinders
Hybrid/Electric car batteries
Vehicle electrics and electronics
Transmission mechanics
Engine cylinder compression
Engine mountings
Water pump/fan/cooling system components
Body water leaks or reason for leaks
Odometer and camshaft belt, drive belt and timing belt;
Estimated expiry of exhaust system, clutch, dual mass flywheels
Standard to which repairs or service history have been completed
Functionality of audio-visual or entertainment system including CD, Cassette, TV, DVD, iPod connectivity, sensors, alarm/security devices, satellite navigation systems/GPS
